Job summary

Lutz is seeking an experienced accounting leader in Lincoln, NE to guide a small team and own day-to-day leadership, close processes, and multi-entity reporting. You’ll partner with CFO and shape financial strategy across locations and new service lines.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of progressive accounting, GAAP mastery, strong Excel, and a hands-on, collaborative approach. Healthcare accounting and CPA are highly desirable attributes for this growth-focused organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Healthcare accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • CPA highly desired.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial statements, and month-end close.
  • Experience in a multi-entity or growing organization is beneficial.
  • Strong Excel skills and an interest in improving systems and processes.
  • Hands-on, collaborative approach with detail-orientation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day activities of a small accounting team with direction and accountability.
  • Oversee monthly close, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting across entities.
  • Improve accounting processes and leverage systems/technology.
  • Develop scalable procedures for new locations, entities, and service lines.
  • Collaborate with CFO on financial reporting, analysis, and special projects.
  • Oversee payroll, retirement plans, leases, allocations, and other operations.
  • Translate financial data into meaningful business insights.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and ongoing financial planning.
  • Provide hands-on support to the accounting team when complex issues arise.

You’ll join an established accounting team with high standards for accuracy while taking ownership of day-to-day leadership, process improvement, and a variety of projects alongside the CFO.

What You'll Do
  • Lead the day-to-day activities of a small accounting team, providing direction, accountability, and support
  • Oversee monthly close, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting across multiple entities
  • Improve accounting processes and identify opportunities to use systems and technology more effectively
  • Help develop scalable procedures to support new locations, entities, and service offerings
  • Partner closely with the CFO and other accounting leadership on financial reporting, analysis, and special projects
  • Oversee accounting related to payroll, retirement plans, leases, allocations, and other operational areas
  • Analyze financial information and help translate the numbers into meaningful business insights
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and ongoing financial planning
  • Serve as a hands-on resource to the accounting team when complex issues arise
What They're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Healthcare accounting experience strongly preferred
  • CPA highly desired
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial statements, and month-end close
  • Experience working within a multi-entity or growing organization is beneficial
  • Strong Excel skills and an interest in improving systems and processes
  • Previous leadership experience is helpful; however, we will consider someone ready to grow into greater people-management responsibility
  • A hands-on, collaborative approach and willingness to dig into the details when needed
