  • Take ownership of the full accounting cycle and ensure transactions are recorded completely, accurately, and timely.
  • Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes, including coordinating and assigning responsibilities to the Accounting Team.
  • Process applicable tax liabilities, payments, employee deductions, and other accounting entries.
  • Prepare the adjusted annual trial balance and supporting documentation for annual financial statements and corporate income tax preparation.
  • Handle additional accounting matters and special financial projects as needed.
Cash Flow, Reporting & Financial Planning
  • Manage company cash flow and prepare regular cash flow analysis and forecasts.
  • Monitor collections, receivables, payables, and overall working capital.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and monitor company performance against budget.
  • Provide scheduled and as-needed financial reports and analysis to the President and leadership team.
Construction Accounting & Payroll
  • Oversee construction accounting and project financial reporting, including job costing, WIP reporting, cost-to-complete analysis, and related financial reporting.
  • Review project financial performance and work with operational leadership to identify financial risks, trends, and areas requiring attention.
  • Oversee Admin payroll and weekly Union payroll.
  • Process and oversee applicable payroll tax liabilities and quarterly payroll reporting.
  • Oversee monthly union reporting.
  • Ensure payroll systems are properly maintained for salary and benefit changes, wage garnishments, new hires, and other applicable employee changes.
  • Ensure applicable construction, union, payroll, and compliance reporting is completed accurately and on time.
Audit, Tax, Insurance & Compliance
  • Serve as the primary accounting contact for external accountants and auditors.
  • Coordinate annual year-end audits and prepare required audit schedules, documentation, data, and reports.
  • Manage Workers' Compensation, General Liability, union, city, and other required audits.
  • Assist with insurance renewals and gather required financial documentation.
Lead & Develop the Team
  • Lead, manage, train, and develop the Accounting Team.
  • Establish clear expectations, priorities, deadlines, and accountability.
  • Evaluate department performance and adjust daily operations when needed to meet company goals.
  • Provide guidance and direction to ensure work is performed accurately, efficiently, and on time.
  • Develop team members and create stronger processes as the company continues to grow.
  • Build a department that can operate effectively while providing reliable financial information to leadership.
  • Work collaboratively across departments and demonstrate the ability to take on broader leadership responsibilities over time.
