Job summary

Fencecrete America, Inc. seeks an experienced Controller to lead day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and the internal control environment.

This role partners with the CFO to strengthen processes and provide P&L insight for sound business decisions. Reporting to the CFO in a fast-moving construction/manufacturing setting, you will own the close process end-to-end, guide policy, and build a skilled accounting team as the company scales.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance required or related field.
• CPA strongly preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience including close leadership.
• 4–5 years in manufacturing/construction or related industry.
• Strong P&L analysis and financial statement prep skills.
• Deep grounding in internal controls, GAAP, and policy design.
• Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite/Sage) and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process with the CFO on timing, scope, and reporting.
• Lead preparation and analysis of P&L statements, identify variances and trends, present findings to CFO and leadership.

Job description

The Controller leads the company's day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal control environment, partnering directly with the Chief Financial Officer to keep our financial records accurate, strengthen the processes and controls behind them, and deliver the P&L insight leadership needs to make sound business decisions. This role owns the close process end-to-end, sets and enforces accounting policy, and will build and mentor the accounting team as Fencecrete continues to scale.

We're looking for someone who takes ownership readily, operates independently, and thrives in a fast-moving construction/manufacturing environment. This is a high-visibility role reporting directly to the CFO, with a clear path to broader finance leadership as the company grows.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process, partnering with the CFO on timing, scope, and reporting
• Lead preparation and analysis of profit & loss (P&L) statements, identifying variances and trends, and present findings directly to the CFO and leadership
• Design, implement, and maintain internal controls over financial reporting and accounting processes across the organization
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities in partnership with the CFO
• Own general ledger integrity, account reconciliations, and journal entry review and approval
• Directly manage Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll functions to ensure accurate, timely financial data across the organization
• Own job costing and cost accounting processes for manufacturing and construction operations
• Manage cash flow monitoring, reporting, and forecasting, including day-to-day banking relationships
• Serve as the primary point of contact for external audit, tax preparation, and compliance requests
  
• Identify and drive process improvements and automation opportunities within accounting workflows
  
• Build, mentor, and manage accounting staff as the team grows
• Ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects for the CFO and executive team

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
• CPA strongly preferred
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including prior experience leading a close process or managing an accounting function
• At least 4–5 years of experience in manufacturing, construction, or a related industry
  
• Strong P&L analysis and financial statement preparation skills
• Deep grounding in internal controls, process design, and GAAP compliance
• Comfortable taking initiative and managing competing priorities with minimal day-to-day direction
• Experience with accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Sage, or similar platforms)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft applications
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work directly with executive leadership
• Willingness to start remote and transition to a hybrid schedule in the Houston, TX area

Preferred Experience

• Experience owning external audit preparation and CPA firm relationships
• Job costing experience in a construction or manufacturing environment
• Process improvement or system implementation experience
• Experience managing or mentoring accounting staff
