Job summary

Tarvos Talent is partnering with a mission-driven organization to recruit a Controller for its team in central Houston, TX. The role leads accounting operations, financial reporting, audits, and internal controls, with oversight of budgeting, forecasting, and investment-related accounting. A CPA is highly preferred, with NetSuite experience valued, to support growth and modernization initiatives.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience with leadership at senior levels (Controller/Accounting Manager).
• Experience across multiple organizations or environments; nonprofit/investment exposure helpful but not required.
• Strong command of GAAP, financial reporting, audits, controls, and complex tax or investment accounting matters.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA is highly preferred; NetSuite experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead accounting operations, financial reporting, audit coordination, tax support, and internal controls.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash planning, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
• Provide financial oversight for investment-related activity and collaborate with external advisors and service providers.
• Guide process improvements and systems modernization while managing and developing senior accounting staff.

What You’ll Bring:

• 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership at the Accounting Manager or Controller level.
• Broad professional exposure across multiple organizations or environments; experience with foundations, nonprofits, investments, or endowments is helpful but not required.
• Strong command of GAAP, financial reporting, audits, controls, and complex tax or investment-related accounting matters.
• A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA is highly preferred, and NetSuite experience is a plus.
