Core6 Talent is partnering with a privately held company in the construction/services space to hire a Controller to lead its internal accounting and financial operations in the Houston Heights on-site.
This hands-on leadership role owns full-cycle accounting, month-end close, job costing, revenue forecasting, and intercompany activity, while building stronger processes and financial infrastructure for a growing multi-entity organization.
Core6 Talent is partnering with a privately held, entrepreneurial company in the construction/services space to hire a Controller to lead its internal accounting and financial operations.
The core business generates approximately $15M+ in annual revenue and has grown significantly over the last several years. Ownership is also actively investing in additional businesses, real estate, and new ventures, creating an opportunity for this person to grow alongside an increasingly multi-entity organization.
This is a hands-on accounting leadership role. We need someone who can own the day-to-day accounting function today while helping build better processes, reporting, job costing, and financial infrastructure for where the organization is going.
The company has good bones and current books, but it is entering another stage of growth.
Leadership wants someone who can improve visibility into project profitability, strengthen job costing, improve forecasting, evaluate processes and technology, and help create an accounting function capable of supporting a growing portfolio of businesses.
This person will also work directly with construction and operational leaders to understand project performance, identify cost variances and billing opportunities, and maintain current revenue forecasts.
Culture fit matters significantly for this hire.
This is an entrepreneurial, direct, fast-moving environment. We need someone who is confident, collaborative, comfortable asking questions, and willing to get out from behind the numbers and understand what is actually happening in the business.
Someone who can say, "Here's what the numbers are telling us, here's the problem, and here's what I think we need to do about it."
You should be comfortable working directly with ownership and operational leaders, taking ownership when something isn't working, and building processes when the answer isn't already written down.
This is probably not the right environment for someone looking for a highly structured corporate accounting department with narrowly defined responsibilities.
For the right person, however, there is significant opportunity to help shape the finance function and grow in responsibility as the organization expands.
