Qualifications

• Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with QuickBooks or similar systems.

Harmer has been engaged by our client in their search for a Corporate Controller with a growing, privately held organization in North Houston. This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing accounting operations, strengthening processes and developing a small accounting team. We're looking for someone who can bring structure to a growing, multi-entity business while staying involved in the day-to-day accounting. This is also a great opportunity for a strong Assistant Controller or Accounting Manager ready to take that next step in their career, with the support and mentorship of an experienced and approachable executive leadership team.

Compensation: ~$130K Base

Location: North Houston (100% On-site)

Key Responsibilities

• Lead month-end close, financial reporting and general ledger accounting across multiple entities
• Oversee AP/AR, cash management, reconciliations, accruals and intercompany transactions
• Manage construction/project accounting, including job costing, WIP reporting, project margins and cost-to-complete analysis
• Strengthen internal controls, streamline workflows and improve the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting
• Lead and develop the accounting team, establishing clear expectations, accountability and consistent processes
• Partner with Operations and executive leadership to resolve accounting issues and support business decisions

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on accounting background with ownership of month-end close, financial statements, reconciliations and GAAP accounting
• Construction or project/job-cost accounting experience, including WIP and project profitability analysis
• Experience managing accounting operations across multiple entities, including general ledger and AP/AR
• Proven ability to lead and develop an accounting team, improve processes and independently resolve accounting issues
• Strong Excel skills and experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting systems
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred; CPA a plus
• Must be comfortable working 100% on-site in North Houston
