Job summary

Relate Search, in partnership with a manufacturing client in Texas, seeks a Contract Controller to provide hands-on, controller-level coverage for a manufacturing facility. Responsibilities include general ledger, supervising two clerks, internal controls, and driving process improvements during a transition toward standardized corporate practices.

This three-month assignment may extend or transition to permanent based on business needs.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of accounting experience with true Controller-level responsibility.
• Prior supervision or leadership experience, including overseeing accounting staff.
• Manufacturing accounting experience with a strong understanding of internal controls.
• Comfortable working in a changing environment and helping improve existing processes.

Responsibilities

• Own general ledger accounting and other controller-level accounting activities for the manufacturing facility.
• Supervise two direct reports, including an AP Clerk and an AR Clerk, while providing hands-on leadership to the local accounting function.
• Maintain internal controls and support continuous improvement initiatives, including efforts to improve financial visibility, costing processes, automation, and understanding of operational spending.
• Support the facility’s three-day close process and assist with the transition from legacy, paper-heavy processes toward more standardized corporate processes.
• Partner with plant leadership and the broader finance organization as needed, including monitoring payroll when appropriate as payroll responsibilities transition to the HR team.

Relate Search has partnered with a manufacturing organization in their search for a Contract Controller to provide immediate controller-level coverage for a manufacturing facility Texas. This is a hands‑on opportunity with responsibility for general ledger accounting, supervision of two accounting clerks, internal controls, and continuous improvement. The role will help bring structure to existing processes while supporting the site through an ongoing transition toward more standardized corporate processes. The assignment is expected to be a minimum of three months, with potential for extension and/or transition to a permanent opportunity based on the long‑term business need.
