Job summary

Mabe Trucking Company Inc. is seeking a motivated, hands-on Controller to oversee our accounting operations and support the financial success of our trucking business.

You will be involved in day-to-day accounting, ensure accurate reporting, and partner with management to drive profitability. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance, prior controller experience, strong knowledge of financial statements and cost analysis, and proficiency with accounting software and Excel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• Experience as Controller or Assistant Controller
• Trucking/transportation accounting experience is a plus
• Strong understanding of financial statements, reconciliations, budgeting, and cost analysis

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations including accounts payable/receivable, GL, and reconciliations.
• Oversee month-end close and prepare monthly financial statements.
• Manage cash flow, budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting.
• Monitor operating expenses, fleet costs, cost per mile, and profitability.
• Analyze financial results and identify opportunities to control costs and improve margins.
• Maintain strong internal controls and accurate records.
• Oversee accounting processes and staff while engaging with daily operations.
• Work with management to support financial planning and decisions.

We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and willing to be directly involved in the day-to-day accounting functions while providing accurate financial reporting and working closely with management.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
• Oversee month-end closing and prepare accurate monthly financial statements.
• Manage cash flow, budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting.
• Monitor operating expenses, fleet costs, cost per mile, and profitability.
• Analyze financial results and identify opportunities to control costs and improve margins.
• Maintain strong internal controls and ensure accurate, timely accounting records.
• Oversee accounting processes and staff while remaining actively involved in daily operations.
• Work directly with management to support financial planning and business decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
• Previous experience in accounting management, preferably as a Controller or Assistant Controller.
• Trucking, transportation, or fleet accounting experience is a plus.
• Strong understanding of financial statements, reconciliations, budgeting, and cost analysis.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a hands‑on approach to getting the job done.
