Job summary

Jobot is seeking a dynamic Controller to join our fast-paced Colorado-based construction group in Denver. The successful candidate will oversee day-to-day accounting, provide strategic financial insights, and drive performance across projects through robust internal controls.

Applicants should have a Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance and a CPA or CMA, with at least five years in accounting/finance and construction expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA or CMA designation preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of overall combined accounting and finance experience.
• Proven working experience as a Financial Controller in the construction industry.
• Advanced knowledge of accounting and financial operations.
• Excellent leadership and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
• Manage the processing of payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Coordinate and direct the preparation of budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
• Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
• Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.
• Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes.
• Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
• Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
• Additional duties as necessary.

• Strong understanding of economic and banking processes.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to drive and influence team members.
• Excellent analytical and strategic planning skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in work.
• Knowledge of construction accounting software and job costing is highly desirable.
