Job summary

Solara Search, on behalf of a family-owned Dallas general contractor, seeks a Controller to own the finance function end to end, combining hands-on accounting with office leadership.

Reporting to the President, the role is broad and trusted, ideal for someone who wants a secure, long-term seat in a well-run business with strong growth potential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years progressive accounting experience.
• Experience at a General Contractor.
• Working knowledge of Sage.
• Bachelor's degree, Accounting or Finance is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Track project costs against budget, analyze backlog and produce WIP reports.
• Manage month end and year end close including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow and WIP.
• Forecast cash and move funds between accounts.
• Ensure GAAP, employee benefit and lien waiver compliance.
• Coordinate annual audits for insurance, bonds, tax and benefit.
• Run AP and AR, process monthly pay applications and manage subcontractor invoice.
• Build policies to prevent fraud, flag risks to the President and reconcile credit cards.
• Handle employee benefits, onboarding, offboarding, vacation tracking, expense reports, the employee handbook and IT coordination.

My client is a family owned General Contractor based in Dallas, with stunning offices, 25 employees and annual revenue of approx $40m.

The Controller is the heartbeat of the office, reporting to the President combining hands on accounting with running the office.

It is a broad role and a trusted one. Good for a Controller who wants to own the finance function end to end, or someone who has had enough of corporate layers and wants a secure, long term seat in a well run business.

What you will be doing
