Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced accounting leader to oversee the core accounting function in Colorado, ensuring strong financial controls and close discipline. You will develop talent and build a scalable accounting organization while leading day-to-day operations and driving continuous process improvements.

You will own the monthly close, review journal entries and reconciliations, and provide clear guidance on complex items such as revenue recognition and capitalizations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience.
  • CPA and/or CMA preferred but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and internal controls.
  • Experience leading accounting operations and month-end close.
  • Experience with ERP implementations or upgrades preferred.

Job description

Responsibilities

  • Develop talent and help build a scalable accounting organization
  • Lead day‑to‑day accounting operations while driving continuous improvement in processes, systems, and team capability
  • Own the monthly close process to ensure accurate, complete, and timely financial results
  • Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, balance sheet reviews, and close deliverables
  • Provide clear accounting guidance on complex or judgmental items including revenue recognition, reserves, accruals, and capitalization
  • Maintain and strengthen accounting controls, policies, procedures, and standard work across the function
  • Identify control gaps and process risks, and implement countermeasures to improve compliance, accuracy, and efficiency
  • Support potential acquisitions through accounting due diligence and quality of earnings inputs
  • Build scalable acquisition integration playbooks and standard work so acquired businesses can be integrated into the accounting cadence without compromising control and quality
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting and/or finance experience
  • Prior experience leading accounting operations and month‑end close in a manufacturing or project‑based environment is strongly preferred
  • CPA and/or CMA preferred
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, and core accounting processes
  • Demonstrated experience leading, developing, and improving the performance of others
  • Proven ability to drive process improvement and strengthen operating discipline
  • Experience supporting ERP implementations, upgrades, or finance systems improvements preferred
  • Strong Excel and accounting systems capability
  • Strong problem‑solving, organizational, and follow‑through skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively across all levels of the organization
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and ownership
  • Self‑starter who can work independently, make sound decisions, and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
