Job summary

Boutique Recruiting seeks a hands-on Controller to oversee accounting and financial operations for a growing portfolio of projects and investments. You will manage day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, project accounting, cash flow, audits, and compliance with GAAP in a lean, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience working in a project-based, investment-focused, or similarly complex business environment.
• Experience supporting financing activities, complex agreements, or project-related financial transactions.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger accounting.
• Lead month-end close and prepare accurate financial statements and management reporting.
• Manage project accounting, budgets, cost tracking, invoicing, and cash flow.
• Support financing activities and other financial initiatives.
• Manage payroll administration, payroll taxes, and related compliance requirements.
• Oversee banking relationships, taxes, audits, and coordination with external financial partners.
• Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable requirements.
• Support the administration of insurance, health, and retirement plans, as needed.

Position Title: Controller

We are seeking a hands-on Controller to oversee the accounting and financial operations of a growing organization with a diverse portfolio of projects and investments. This role will manage day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, project accounting, cash flow, audits, compliance, and broader financial activities.

The ideal candidate is an experienced accounting professional who thrives in a smaller company environment, enjoys staying close to the details, and is comfortable wearing multiple hats. Salary Range: $120,000-$130,000 / Year, DOE

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger accounting
• Lead month-end close and prepare accurate financial statements and management reporting
• Manage project accounting, budgets, cost tracking, invoicing, and cash flow
• Support financing activities and other financial initiatives

Requirements

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
• 2+ years of experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Experience working in a project-based, investment-focused, or similarly complex business environment
• Experience supporting financing activities, complex agreements, or project-related financial transactions
• Proficiency with accounting platforms such as NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or comparable systems
• Strong hands-on accounting skills with the ability to manage both strategic and day-to-day responsibilities
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working within a lean, collaborative environment
