Controller – Manufacturing Organization (West Side of Chicago)

LHH Recruitment Solutions is supporting a client on a Controller search for a privately held manufacturing organization located in West Side of Chicago. This is a unique opportunity to lead core accounting functions and partner with senior leadership on business initiatives and continued steady growth.

Position Overview:

The Controller will oversee the organization’s general accounting, financial reporting, cost accounting, and AP/AR functions. This role will also serve as the primary liaison to external audit and tax firms and will collaborate with senior leadership on budgeting and forecasting. The Controller will play a key role in software implementation and enhancing financial reporting and analysis capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting processes.
• Oversee cost accounting operations and ensure accurate product costing and inventory valuation.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
• Serve as the point of contact for external auditors and tax advisors.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning efforts.
• Contribute to ERP and financial systems implementation and optimization.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance reporting and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with senior leadership on strategic financial initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 7 years of broad based accounting leadership within a smaller company or division setting
• Strong cost accounting experience or CPA certification required.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
• Proven ability to lead accounting operations and manage teams.
• Familiarity with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.

Preferred Experience:

• Exposure to software implementation projects.
• Experience enhancing reporting and analysis capabilities.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Base salary range 130-150k
• Bonus target up to 10-15k based on company and individual performance
• Personal Time Off (PTO) is offered on an accrual basis. PTO hours are prorated
• based on hire date within the calendar year.
• Benefit offerings for full-time employment include medical, dental, vision and 401k plan with a company match
