Job summary

Buckeye Power Sales Co. in Ohio seeks a Controller to lead the Finance team, oversee month-end Close, and drive accurate reporting. You will manage the general ledger, ERP system (Dynamics 365 BC), and internal controls while guiding budgeting, audits, and tax filings.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance, 7+ years of accounting progression, and strong leadership with a CPA preferred. Excellent benefits accompany a stable, on-site work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• CPA designation strongly preferred.
• Seven+ years of progressive accounting experience; supervisory experience preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of GAAP, close processes, and internal controls.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or comparable ERP.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; Word and Outlook skills.

Responsibilities

• Directing and supervising the Finance team, including hiring, training, coaching and reviews.
• Owning monthly, quarterly and annual close processes and reconciliations.
• Preparing financial statements and management reports.
• Maintaining the general ledger and chart of accounts in BC; drive system improvements.
• Overseeing AP, inventory accounting, and credit card reconciliations.
• Assisting budgeting/forecasting and variance analysis.
• Designing internal controls and coordinating audits, tax filings.
• Overseeing vendor/customer setup and portal management.

Our Controller is responsible for:

• Directing and supervising the Finance team, including hiring, training, coaching, and conducting performance reviews.
• Owning the month-end and year-end close processes, including managing the close calendar, reviewing journal entries, and approving account reconciliations.
• Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Maintaining the general ledger and chart of accounts in Business Central, and leading system improvements and process automation.
• Approving and overseeing company credit card reconciliation and expense-management processes.
• Assisting the Executive team with annual budgeting and forecasting, and analyzing variances against the budget and prior-year results.
• Designing, documenting, and enforcing internal controls and accounting policies.
• Coordinating external audits or reviews, bank reporting, tax preparation, and applicable sales, use, and property tax filings.
• Overseeing vendor and customer setup and compliance forms, including customer and vendor portal management.
• Overseeing accounts payable and inventory accounting, including physical counts and inventory valuation.
