Job summary

• 5+ years of progressive accounting in manufacturing.
• Controller/Assistant Controller level with close ownership.
• Strong job-costing, WIP, inventory, and revenue recognition experience.
• ERP implementation or systems ownership; MS Dynamics knowledge.
• Hands-on lean mindset; prepare entries and resolve issues personally.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly close, financial reporting, reconciliations, accruals, controls, and balance-sheet integrity.
• Apply U.S. GAAP across project-based revenue recognition, milestones, work in process, job costing, inventory, field service, and manufactured solutions.
• Serve as the finance owner and power user of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, especially its manufacturing and production capabilities; simplify inefficient workflows and manual workarounds.
• Improve billing accuracy, customer documentation, AR aging, cash collections, and oversight of AP/AR processes.
• Lead annual planning and budgeting; support forecasting, margin analysis, job profitability, Power BI, and operating-performance reporting.
• Coach and develop the Staff Accountant while helping build a scalable finance organization for future growth and potential acquisitions.

The Opportunity

The Overture Group has been retained to recruit a Controller for a professionally managed, well-capitalized industrial safety solutions company supported by long-term holders. The business could nearly double in size over the next two years and combines customized manufacturing with installation, design, and service. New leadership is guiding its next phase of long-term, sustainable growth.

Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will own the accounting function and lead a Staff Accountant focused primarily on AR/AP. This is a hands-on role for a leader who can strengthen the foundation, modernize processes, and scale the function. What You’ll Own

• Lead the monthly close, financial reporting, reconciliations, accruals, controls, and balance-sheet integrity.

What We’re Looking For

• At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally project-based, engineered-to-order, or job-shop.
• Experience at the Controller, Assistant Controller, or strong Accounting Manager level with independent ownership of close, reporting, reconciliations, controls, and balance-sheet integrity.
• Strong job-costing, work-in-process, inventory, and project-based revenue recognition experience, including milestone or percentage-of-completion accounting.
• Demonstrated ERP implementation, optimization, or systems ownership experience is required; Microsoft Business Central, NAV, or Dynamics experience is highly valued.
• A hands-on, lean-environment mindset and willingness to prepare entries, solve system issues, reconcile accounts, and improve processes personally.
• Commercial curiosity and the ability to connect financial results to operating drivers, explain variances, and recommend action.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.

Preferred Experience

• Strong financial close and cost accounting, experience in a private-equity-backed business or within a larger enterprise composed of middle-market operating companies, and/or a CPA or public accounting background.
