Job summary

Discover Staffing is seeking a senior finance leader to partner with executive leadership, overseeing budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting across multiple states.

You will lead month-end close, build cash flow models, strengthen internal controls, and guide accounting teams in a project-based professional services environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
• Minimum of seven years of progressive accounting and financial leadership experience.
• Experience managing accounting teams and overseeing multiple areas of the finance and accounting function.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Experience working within a multi-state business environment.
• Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and leadership capabilities.
• Proficiency with accounting software, Microsoft Office applications, and business reporting tools.
• QuickBooks proficiency is a plus.
• Experience working in a project-based professional services environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop a comprehensive understanding of business operations, project lifecycles, key performance drivers, and financial goals.
• Manage the annual budgeting process and ongoing financial forecasting.
• Create and maintain rolling cash flow forecasts and tools to support liquidity planning.
• Evaluate financial and operational trends and provide leadership with meaningful observations and recommendations.
• Establish, track, and evaluate key performance indicators that support effective business decisions.
• Prepare financial models and profitability analyses and assist leadership in evaluating potential business opportunities and financial risks.
• Collaborate with operational leaders to strengthen project profitability, improve resource utilization, increase billing efficiency, and enhance overall performance.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen processes, improve access to financial information, and increase organizational effectiveness.
• Oversee accounting functions and ensure appropriate accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls are maintained.
• Ensure monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports are completed accurately and on schedule.
• Manage month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and supporting financial documentation.
• Coordinate financial matters with outside CPA firms, tax professionals, auditors, banking partners, and other external business partners.
• Prepare and communicate financial reporting and analysis that enables leadership to make informed business decisions.

• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, treasury, and general accounting functions.
• Maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local tax requirements as well as relevant licensing obligations.
• Manage organizational insurance programs, business registrations, and associated compliance responsibilities.
• Establish and maintain internal controls designed to protect organizational assets.
• Oversee accounting and reporting related to fixed assets and leases.
• Ensure account reconciliations are completed on schedule and accounting discrepancies are investigated and resolved appropriately.
• Manage, coach, and develop members of the accounting team.
• Establish clear responsibilities, expectations, accountability measures, and performance standards.
• Encourage a team environment centered on professionalism, responsiveness, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Support cross-training and ongoing professional development within the accounting function.
• Participate in the recruitment, selection, and retention of accounting team members.
