Job summary

Pursuant Health, Inc. is seeking a Controller to own all accounting, financial reporting, and technical accounting matters. This hands‑on leadership role complements a strategic, non‑CPA CFO and requires deep GAAP knowledge, audits, and ERP optimization to support a fast‑growing organization.

Reporting to the CFO, you will lead budgeting, FP&A, reporting to the board, and ensure alignment of expenses with budgets. Hybrid work from our Atlanta headquarters is available.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required; active CPA required.
  • Five to ten years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including prior Controller or Assistant Controller responsibility and experience managing accounting staff.
  • Public accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Deep, current technical knowledge of US GAAP, with the ability to research, document, and apply complex accounting standards independently.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills across all levels of an organization.

  • Experience coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
  • Strong systems orientation with hands‑on experience selecting, implementing, and optimizing ERP and accounting systems and managing software vendor relationships; advanced proficiency with accounting, reporting, and FP&A tools.
  • Commitment to mentoring, training, and retaining a diverse team; the foresight and ability to delegate accordingly.
  • Keen analytic, organizational and problem‑solving skills which allows for strategic data interpretation versus simple reporting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management, board or other outside partners.
  • Ability and desire to translate complex financial and accounting concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non‑finance managers. Experience in startup environment a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Own all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems and the month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as the Company’s technical accounting authority on complex matters including revenue recognition (ASC 606), leases (ASC 842), and stock‑based compensation (ASC 718).
  • Maintain an effective system of internal controls.
  • Coordinate all audit activity.
  • Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership abreast of Pursuant Health’s financial status.
  • Partner with the CFO to lead the annual budgeting and financial planning and analysis (FP&A) process; build and maintain budgets, forecasts, and management reporting, and drive monthly variance analysis to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate.
  • Support the CFO in engaging the board around issues and trends in financial operating models and delivery.
  • Ensure that expenses are consistently aligned with budgets.
  • Own the accounting and financial systems environment, including selection, implementation, and ongoing optimization of the ERP and related tools; drive automation and scalable processes to support a fast‑growing organization.
  • Partner with external tax consultants for corporate tax filings and tax planning initiatives.
  • Manage organizational cash flow forecasting by working in partnership with the CFO and other management; continuously collaborate with management to assess the financial efficacy of various business lines and establish finance and administrative systems to support operations.
  • Lead and develop the Accounting team (currently two direct reports), leveraging the strengths of current team members to achieve individual and organizational goals.
  • Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization.
  • Create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.

About the Position

Reporting to the CFO, the Controller is the company's most senior accounting professional and owns all accounting, financial reporting, and technical accounting matters. This is a hands‑on leadership role designed to complement a strategic, non‑CPA CFO: the Controller provides the deep technical accounting, GAAP, and financial‑operations expertise that ensures the integrity of the Company's books and reporting. The Controller will develop and support presentations to the board of directors and audit committee and will work closely with the senior leadership team. In addition, they will partner with the CFO, senior leadership, human resources, and information technology staff to enhance and better integrate the finance, HR, and IT functions.

This position is located out of Atlanta Headquarters and eligible for hybrid work.

  • Base Salary: $135,000 – $150,000 (commensurate with experience)
