  • Lead day-to-day accounting operations and ensure accurate general ledger activity and financial reporting in a complex nonprofit setting.
  • Manage monthly and year-end close processes with strong controls and timely results.
  • Oversee preparation for annual external audits and coordinate required documentation and auditor requests.
  • Direct nonprofit tax and compliance activities, including Form 990 preparation and review.
  • Supervise treasury-related activities and maintain effective cash management practices for ongoing operations.
  • Provide guidance and hands-on leadership to a small accounting team, balancing staff management with detailed work.
  • Support accounting for diverse revenue streams: donor contributions, foundation funding, planned gifts, and international gifts.
  • Partner with leadership on accounting processes and contribute to long-term finance systems improvement initiatives.

Overview

In this role you will lead the organization's accounting function within a large, mission-driven nonprofit. You will oversee accurate general ledger activity, reporting, and a fast-paced close calendar while guiding a small team. You will manage grants and diverse revenue streams, support audits and tax compliance, and help drive finance system improvements. This is a hands-on leadership position that blends technical accounting with strategic partnership across leadership to sustain mission-focused operations.
