Job summary

JK Farms in Idaho is seeking a Controller to lead accounting operations and provide strategic financial oversight. This on-site role in Acequia/Rupert will partner with leadership to support growth, implement strong internal controls, and ensure accurate financial reporting.

The Controller will manage day-to-day accounting, ensure GAAP compliance, and deliver meaningful insights for decision-making. A leadership-focused professional with full-cycle accounting experience is ideal.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations including AP, AR, bank reconciliations, GL, and financial reporting.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies, internal controls, and risk mitigation.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements per GAAP.
• Create and distribute financial and managerial reports to leadership.
• Monitor budgets, analyze variances, and report to management.
• Provide financial analysis for capital investments, pricing, and contracts.
• Coordinate annual audits and liaise with external auditors.
• File quarterly and annual financial reports with government agencies.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiency.
• Perform additional accounting and finance tasks as assigned.

As the Controller, you will oversee the day-to-day accounting functions, ensure compliance with financial regulations, improve internal controls, and provide meaningful financial insights that help drive informed business decisions.

What You'll Do

• Lead and manage all accounting operations, includingAccounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger, and Financial Reporting.
• Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and minimize financial risk.
• Prepare and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance withGenerally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Create, update, and distribute financial and managerial reports to company leadership.
• Monitor budgets, analyze budget-to-actual performance, and communicate significant variances to management.
• Provide financial analysis and recommendations related to capital investments, pricing strategies, and contract negotiations.
• Coordinate annual audits and collaborate with external auditors by providing required financial documentation.
• Prepare and file quarterly and annual financial reports with appropriate government agencies.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal financial regulations.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, operational efficiency, and financial reporting.
• Perform additional accounting and finance responsibilities as assigned.

Required

• Strong understanding ofdebits and credits,revenue recognition, andaccrual versus cash accounting.
• Experience overseeing full-cycle accounting operations.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and time management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with accounting software, tax preparation software, and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Preferred

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA (Certified Public Accountant)orCMA (Certified Management Accountant)designation.
• Experience managing accounting teams and financial reporting in a growing organization.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
• Occasionally lift up to 15 pounds.
• Ability to travel as needed.
