Job summary

ECMC in Buffalo, NY seeks a Control Technician – Electric to perform skilled installation, maintenance and repair of building electric and electronic control systems. You will read specs, diagrams and plans to determine work, estimate materials and ensure safe, efficient operation.

The role requires troubleshooting of digital and analog circuitry, plus experience with computerized control systems and test equipment. On-site position with full-time hours.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent.
  • Two years of study in electronic technology plus three years experience in installing/maintaining large-scale building electrical/electronic control systems.
  • Five years experience in installing/maintaining large-scale building electrical/electronic control systems.
  • Equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by (A) and (B).

HOURLY RANGE: $29.37 - $42.09

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES
  • Performs skilled work in the installation, maintenance, checkout and repair of electric and electronic devices such as thermostats, damper operators, valve operators, electric-pneumatic switches, hi-limit and low limit controls, temperature and pressure sensors, relays, transmitters, thermistors, transducers, accumulators, detectors, computers, and wiring, conveyor systems, sterilizers, incinerators, cart wash, dishwasher, kitchen and laundry equipment;
  • Troubleshoots and repairs digital and analog electronic circuits;
  • Plans work; estimates materials and supplies required; reads and interprets specifications, blueprints and diagrams to determine work required; requests supplies and equipment;
  • Operates test equipment and hand or power tools; maintains tools, equipment and shop in good condition;
  • Operates and maintains computerized control systems.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
  • Thorough knowledge of the tools, test equipment, terminology, procedures, devices and equipment currently used in the maintenance and installation of building electric and electronic control systems;
  • Ability to install, maintain and repair buildings electric and electronic control devices and systems;
  • Ability to analyze and correct malfunctions in existing building systems rapidly and accurately;
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications, plans, blueprints, diagrams and charts;
  • Ability to get along well with others;
  • Mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity;
  • Ability to analyze and repair digital and analog circuitry and operate and maintain computerized control systems;
  • Physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and in addition to either:

  • A) Completion of two (2) years of study at a recognized community college or technical institute, majoring in electronic technology or a related field, supplemented by three (3) years experience in the installation and maintenance of large scale buildings electric and electronic control systems;
  • B) Five (5) years experience in the installation and maintenance of large scale buildings electric and electronic control systems;
  • C) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).

NOTE: Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience requirements.
