Golden Valley Electric Association is seeking a Control Systems Engineer I to support SCADA/EMS, PLCs, and RTUs across generation facilities and system dispatch in Fairbanks, Alaska. The role emphasizes learning, hands-on maintenance, and reliable operation of critical control infrastructure.

You will develop skills in monitoring, troubleshooting, and data collection, with a structured advancement path and mentoring in a mission-driven utility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Less than three years of relevant professional experience.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Willingness to learn SCADA/EMS, PLCs, RTUs and Linux environments.
• Ability to work under supervision and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation, maintenance, and operation of control systems across system dispatch and generation facilities.
• Work with SCADA/EMS systems, PLCs, and RTUs to ensure reliable and secure system performance.
• Develop, modify, and maintain control system applications and supports real-time system monitoring.
• Collaborate with engineers, dispatchers, electricians, and stakeholders to support system operations, testing, and data collection.
• Contribute to system reporting and forecasting by ensuring data accuracy in databases and historians.
• Gain exposure to Linux environments, networking, and industrial control systems while building foundational utility operations knowledge.
• This entry-level position provides on-the-job training under supervision.
