Job summary

Vistra is seeking a Plant Operator in Franklin, TX to safely operate two supercritical lignite-fired generating units from the control room, monitor boiler and turbine systems, and coordinate startups and shutdowns.

You will interpret DCS trends, alarms, and process data, work with field operators and maintenance staff, and maintain logs and fuel-delivery records.

This 24/7 role requires a strong commitment to safety, adherence to procedures, and the ability to work under pressure.

Qualifications

• Six years of related experience in utility-scale generating facilities.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience operating generating equipment from a control room.
• Understanding of supercritical steam generation and turbine-generator systems.
• Strong knowledge of DCS-based control and monitoring systems.
• Ability to interpret trends, alarms, operating parameters, and data to identify issues.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced shift environment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor two supercritical lignite-fired generating units from the control room.
• Maintain safe, stable, and efficient operation of boiler and turbine-generator systems.
• Monitor DCS indications, alarms, trends, process conditions, equipment performance, and operating parameters.
• Coordinate unit startups, shutdowns, load changes, and switching activities per procedures.
• Work with field operators, maintenance personnel, engineers, and fuel-handling staff.
• Operate lignite fuel-delivery systems and monitor fuel inventory and conveyors.
• Record operating logs and fuel-delivery activity; ensure accurate documentation.
• Support troubleshooting, incident reviews, and root-cause analyses; follow safety and regulatory requirements.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by plant management.
