Job summary

Cemex US is seeking an Operator Control Room in Demopolis, AL to independently operate milling and kiln systems under supervision. The role requires demonstrated competence with kilns and related instrumentation, with a focus on safe, efficient plant operation.

Responsibilities include interpreting diagrams, performing basic tests, and maintaining accurate reports while adhering to safety rules and working with the console equipment and control instruments in the cement plant.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Language skills: commensurate with education.
• Mathematical skills: basic arithmetic, percentages, area and volume.
• Reasoning: recognize potentially hazardous situations; follow supervisor instructions.
• Two years in a similar industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in cement plant repair and kiln system work.
• Read and interpret instrument loop diagrams, sketches and specs; perform simple chemical/physical tests and prepare reports.
• Start up and shut down the plant; perform minor electrical repairs and adjustments.
• Operate console equipment (CRTs, recorders, printers, etc.).
• Understand electrical and pneumatic instrumentation to adjust and repair instruments.
• Diagnose mechanical problems quickly and perform emergency repairs.
• Keep equipment and work areas clean, safe, and orderly.
• Comply with safety rules and wear protective equipment.
