Job summary

Aerotek in Corona, CA is seeking a Control Panel Technician to assemble, wire, and test electrical panels and pneumatic assemblies in a production environment. The role requires reading drawings, following UL508A standards, and maintaining quality and safety.

You will use hand and power tools, measure components, troubleshoot routine issues, and complete documentation while meeting production deadlines. This is a contract-to-hire, onsite daytime schedule with opportunities to mentor others.

Job Title: Control Panel Technician

Job Description

This role focuses on assembling, wiring, and testing electrical control panels and pneumatic assemblies in a production environment. You will interpret technical documentation, build and inspect panels to established standards, troubleshoot routine issues, and ensure all work meets quality, safety, and documentation requirements. The position requires hands‑on electrical and mechanical skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a shop environment with production deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret work instructions, drawings, schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and project documentation to assemble electrical panels, pneumatic assemblies, and related components.

• Assemble, route, install, and repair wiring, electrical components, units, subassemblies, support structures, and panel casings using appropriate tools, fasteners, soldering equipment, and related assembly methods.

• Build electrical panels to UL508A specifications and internal drawing, quality, and production standards, ensuring accurate layout, wiring, and labeling.

• Assemble pneumatic valve manifolds and other pneumatic assemblies to specified standards and drawings, including assembly, testing, labeling, and documentation of completed work.

• Inspect wiring installations, assemblies, circuits, dimensions, and clearances using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and related measuring instruments to verify conformance with specifications.

• Test the functional performance of wiring, panels, assemblies, and related systems to confirm that all components operate correctly and meet quality requirements.

• Troubleshoot routine assembly, wiring, documentation, or quality issues, make standard corrections, and elevate to moderately complex or non‑routine concerns when necessary.

• Complete accurate project, production, inspection, testing, and related documentation in accordance with company procedures.

• Assist with IPS builds, installations, and related production or customer‑support activities as needed.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, and follow all applicable safety, quality, electrical assembly, and production procedures.

• Use hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, measuring instruments, diagnostic tools, and standard production equipment safely and effectively during daily tasks.

• Demonstrate reliable onsite attendance, prioritize assigned work, and meet production deadlines while maintaining documentation accuracy.

• For higher‑level technicians, provide informal guidance, coaching, or mentoring to less experienced team members on standard assembly practices and procedures.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• 2-4 years of related experience in electrical assembly, panel building, wiring, production, mechanical, pneumatic, or technical work.

• Solid working knowledge of electrical assembly practices, including panel wiring, component installation, pneumatic assembly, production documentation, and routine quality requirements.

• Ability to read, interpret, and follow work instructions, electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and work orders.

• Demonstrated experience building or working with electrical panels, control panel boxes, and electrical breaker components.

• Ability to assemble, route, install, inspect, repair, and test wiring, panels, subassemblies, and related electrical or electronic components with high accuracy and quality.

• Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, and related assembly tools safely and effectively.

• Ability to use measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other tools to verify dimensions, tolerances, clearances, and component placement.

• Experience reading and working from panel layup drawings and electrical schematics.

• Mechanically inclined with strong manual dexterity, fine motor skills, hand‑eye coordination, and visual acuity suitable for precise assembly and inspection work.

• Basic math skills to support measurement, verification, and documentation tasks.

• Ability to identify routine quality or performance issues, troubleshoot standard problems, make appropriate adjustments, and raise more complex issues when needed.

• Effective communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with coworkers, other departments, and internal or external customers.

• Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, complete documentation accurately, and maintain reliable attendance.

• Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, climb, crouch, kneel, and use hands and arms for extended periods during wiring, assembly, inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation activities.

• Ability to safely lift, carry, push, or pull up to 70 pounds with assistance or mechanical lifting devices as appropriate.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Technical training, electrical assembly coursework, skilled trades training, or related hands‑on assembly experience.

• Previous panel building experience.

• Experience reading electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints in an industrial environment.

• Familiarity with UL-certified electrical panel construction and UL508A specifications.

• Experience working with pneumatic valve manifolds and pneumatic assemblies.

• Comfort working with industrial control panel boxes and electrical build processes.

• Ability to use diagnostic equipment and computers to support testing and documentation activities.

• Strong attention to detail and concentration when performing precise assembly and inspection tasks.

• Demonstrated ability to provide informal guidance, coaching, or mentoring to less experienced employees on standard work practices.

Work Environment

Work takes place primarily in a production, electrical assembly, panel building, pneumatic assembly, testing, and shop environment with regular exposure to electrical components, wiring, tools, moving equipment, shop noise, sharp materials, production equipment, test stands, and pressurized systems. The facility is not temperature controlled, so it can become warm during the summer months. The department is in the process of expanding and building out additional space, creating a dynamic and evolving work area. The role requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, climbing, crouching, and kneeling, as well as extended use of hands and arms for wiring, assembly, inspection, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and production support activities. You will regularly lift, carry, push, or pull up to 70 pounds, using assistance or mechanical lifting devices when appropriate. Daily work involves frequent use of hand tools, power tools, wiring tools, measuring instruments, diagnostic equipment, computers, and standard office equipment. Personal protective equipment is required, and adherence to all safety, quality, electrical assembly, and production procedures is essential. Regular and reliable onsite attendance is expected, and occasional travel by land or air of up to approximately 10% may be required. The standard shift runs Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The dress code allows comfortable clothing, closed‑toe shoes, and non‑offensive T‑shirts, appropriate for a shop and production environment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $28.00/hr.
