Job summary

LVI Associates seeks a Control Engineer in Youngstown, OH to design, build, and deploy custom automation and controls from concept to startup. You will collaborate with customers and internal teams to define requirements and deliver robust systems.

The role covers PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMI development, embedded programming, and field service at customer sites with travel. A Bachelor’s in Electrical or Automation Engineering and 5+ years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Automation Engineering required.
• 5+ years of automation/controls engineering experience.
• Experience in manufacturing environments (metals, automotive, food, pharma, or similar).
• Strong communication skills with ability to produce clear documentation.
• Self-motivated with a hands-on, problem-solving mindset.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with customers and internal teams to define system requirements.
• Take projects from concept through to fully functional systems from a blank sheet of paper.
• Develop engineering documentation including BOMs, panel layouts, and electrical schematics.
• Work across technologies including PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMI development, and embedded programming.
• Apply modern automation technologies to solve complex, process-specific challenges.
• Support commissioning, startup, and field service at customer sites (travel required).
