Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior IT/network infrastructure professional in Illinois to partner with facility, engineering, and operations leadership. You will design, deploy, monitor, and support large-scale wireless networks, including Wi‑Fi, private 5G, and mesh, while leading cybersecurity and compliance initiatives.

You will manage projects, budgets, and vendors, enable autonomous and connected-machine connectivity, and collaborate across OT, enterprise IT, and operations teams to drive

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, CS, engineering, or hands-on experience.
• Experience in infrastructure, networking, systems administration, or technical operations.
• Experience supporting enterprise networks and wireless technologies.
• Proven project leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Strong communication, customer relationship, and problem-solving abilities.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the proving ground.
• Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments preferred for top candidates.
• Knowledge of Cisco networking, wireless mesh, LTE/5G, microwave and RF technologies.
• Experience with autonomous/connected-machine technologies and OT environments.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity, vulnerability management, scripting, and automation tools (PowerShell/Python).
• Successful completion of a drug screen.

• Serve as a trusted IT partner to facility, engineering, and operations leadership
• Manage and support wireless, cellular, and network infrastructure, including Wi-Fi, mesh, microwave, and private 5G technologies
• Enable connectivity for autonomous and connected-machine technologies
• Lead cybersecurity, vulnerability remediation, and compliance efforts
• Manage infrastructure projects, vendors, budgets, and stakeholder communications
• Drive continuous improvement, reliability, and modernization initiatives
• Design, deploy, monitor, and support large-scale wireless network environments
• Support Wi-Fi, wireless mesh, microwave, backhaul, cellular, and Private 5G technologies
• Maintain connectivity supporting autonomous and remotely operated equipment
• Develop network coverage strategies and RF spectrum utilization plans
• Utilize spectrum analyzers, site survey tools, drive-test tools, and diagnostic platforms
• Manage outdoor network infrastructure including access points, towers, solar-powered network assets, wireless bridges, edge communication devices, industrial networking equipment, and wireless mesh solutions
• Perform root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities to improve reliability
• Partner with engineering, operations, facility leadership, autonomous machine teams, and enterprise IT organizations
• Support machine connectivity, customer demonstrations, autonomous technologies, private wireless infrastructure, facility modernization initiatives, and business-critical operational systems

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or hands on experience
• Experience in infrastructure, networking, systems administration, or technical operations
• Experience supporting enterprise networks and wireless technologies
• Proven project leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills
