Role and Responsibilities

Role Overview: The Senior Manager of Contracts and Proposals manages proposal responses and ensures their team has the resources and processes needed for due diligence, negotiation, and eventual contract execution with customers. This role bridges business development, legal review, and operational planning. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrably articulate a working knowledge of contract law and regulatory matters affecting Samsung and Samsung Products, sufficient and appropriate to achieve the business objectives promulgated by Samsung Leadership. The candidate possesses the ability to effectively lead and manage complex and dynamic business matters between internal and external parties and supporting resources, including legal, compliance, product marketing, financial teams, and other functions as may be necessary.

Essential Duties
  • Lead the end-to-end development and submission of formal and informal proposal responses (RFI, RFP, RFQ), ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with Samsung's business objectives and timelines
  • Manage all phases of the contract lifecycle — from initial review and due diligence through negotiation, execution, and handoff — maintaining clear accountability and documentation at each stage
  • Establish, document, and continuously improve standardized processes, workflows, and internal controls for proposal development and contract management activities
  • Identify, evaluate, and clearly communicate contractual risks, legal exposures, and business implications to senior leadership, providing actionable recommendations to support informed decision-making
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Sales, Marketing, Finance, Legal, Compliance, and Product teams to ensure proposal and contract content is complete, consistent, and delivered on time
  • Guide and support negotiation efforts with customers and external parties, applying working knowledge of contract law and applicable regulatory requirements to protect Samsung's interests while advancing business goals
  • Partner with Finance and Accounting to develop cost breakdowns, revenue estimates, and financial summaries associated with proposed agreements, ensuring leadership has the data needed for sound business decisions
  • Create, maintain, and govern a library of contract templates, statements of work, boilerplates, and digital tools that improve efficiency, consistency, and compliance across the contracting function
  • Lead, develop, and support the Contracts and Proposals team, ensuring staff have the resources, training, and direction needed to perform at a high level across concurrent and complex engagements
  • Maintain a current and demonstrable understanding of contract law, industry regulations, and Samsung-specific compliance requirements, applying that knowledge to mitigate risk throughout the proposal and contracting process
Skills and Qualifications

Qualification Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Law, Finance, or a related field; advanced degree (JD, MBA) preferred

  • Minimum 8–10 years of progressive experience in contracts management, proposal development, or a related field
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contract law, commercial contracting principles, and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Proven experience managing the full contract lifecycle, including drafting, negotiation, execution, and closeout
  • Strong track record of leading and responding to competitive RFI, RFP, and RFQ processes in a corporate or technology-driven environment
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Legal, Finance, Sales, Marketing, and Compliance teams to drive contract and proposal outcomes
  • Proficiency in contract management systems, document management platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with digital tools and template libraries is a plus
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex contractual and risk-related information clearly to senior leadership
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to assess risk, evaluate terms, and recommend solutions under tight deadlines
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in the consumer electronics, technology, or telecommunications industry is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to build, mentor, and develop high-performing teams
  • Strong negotiation skills with a results-oriented mindset and the ability to balance business objectives with risk mitigation
