Job summary

New York State Unified Court System seeks an Assistant Deputy Counsel (Contracts and Procurement) to provide legal advice on contracts, grants, leases, and procurement matters across divisions.

The role requires NYS Bar admission and substantial experience in contracting, procurement, or related law, with strong written and oral communication, organization, and time-management skills. Remote work one day per week is available with supervisor approval.

Qualifications

• Exceptional written and oral communication, organization, and time management skills.
• Admission to the New York State Bar is required.
• Contracting and procurement experience preferred, especially in real estate, IT, or IP.

Responsibilities

• Draft and review contracts for goods and services.
• Handle grant and program contracts and intergovernmental agreements.
• Draft leases and related procurement documents for clarity and legal sufficiency.
• Provide advice on contract-related transactional and administrative issues.
• Review grant award conditions and assurances.
• Counsel on procurement policies and submissions to state oversight entities.
• Assist in interpreting laws and policies affecting UCS contracts.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
