Job summary

RTX is seeking a Contracts Manager with strong contracting experience to operate remotely in the United States. You will independently lead contract negotiations, manage a complex portfolio, and collaborate with program management, finance, legal, and engineering to support proposals, gate reviews, and contract execution.

The role requires strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to navigate both commercial and government environments, and a strategic approach to risk.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary contractual advisor for assigned programs and liaise with customers.
• Review, interpret, negotiate and manage complex contract types.
• Evaluate RFPs for requirements, risks, and IP considerations; draft and negotiate terms.
• Lead negotiations leveraging SME input to mitigate contractual risks.
• Provide strategic guidance on contract strategy and risk posture.

• Work autonomously and mentor junior contract professionals.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Contracts Manager with strong contracting experience in commercial and government‑related environments. In this role, you will independently lead contract negotiations, manage a complex portfolio, and serve as a trusted business partner within an integrated project team. You will collaborate with program management, finance, legal, engineering, and other key stakeholders to support proposals, gate reviews, contract execution, and overall program performance.

What You Will Do

• Serve as the primary contractual advisor and representative for assigned programs, acting as a key liaison between internal stakeholders and external customers.
• Review, interpret, negotiate, and manage a variety of complex contract types, including Long‑Term Agreements, General Terms Agreements, and Settlement Agreements.
• Evaluate customer RFPs across commercial and government‑related programs; identify proposal requirements, contractual risks, and intellectual property considerations; and draft, redline, and negotiate complex terms and conditions.
• Lead negotiations for complex customer contracts, leveraging legal and subject‑matter experts to identify, mitigate, and document contractual and business risks.
• Provide strategic guidance and recommendations to program teams and leadership on contract strategy, interpretation, and risk posture.
• Ensure full compliance with company policies, procedures, FAR/DFARS, Export/Global Trade (ITAR/EAR), and CUI requirements as needed.
• Apply working knowledge of multiple contract structures, such as cost‑reimbursable, fixed‑price, FAR Part 12 (Commercial Items), and FAR Part 15 (TINA).
• Work with a high degree of autonomy and provide mentorship or guidance to junior contract professionals as needed.
• Manage multiple routine and complex contracting and proposal efforts while responding effectively to urgent and unplanned requests.
• Maintain strong customer relationships and support issue resolution in alignment with program and business objectives.
• Position is remote for candidates located outside the Cedar Rapids area; periodic travel may be required.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
• Working knowledge of FAR/DFARS, export controls, and contract compliance requirements
• Proven ability to lead negotiations and manage complex contracts with minimal oversight
