  • Working with business partners to understand what drives each collaboration, identify contractual risks, and propose risk-mitigation solutions
  • Assist in developing templates and playbooks; provide insights to improve Veracyte’s contract management system (currently Ironclad)
  • Supporting intellectual property management for the IP Counsel; overflow support for Contracts Counsel

This position will report to the IP Counsel.

Qualifications:

    • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with at least 7 years of relevant experience and professional certification as a paralegal. Or a JD (or equivalent) with active bar membership, with at least 5 years of legal experience; law firm training in technology transactions practice is preferred.

  • Experience (required) in life sciences technology transactions—e.g., diagnostic, medical device, CRO, biotech, or pharma
  • Ability to analyze complex issues and take business/client-focused approach to difficult decisions—to advance practical solutions
  • Exceptional drafting skills with an affinity for using language to achieve compromise
  • Passion for supporting patient care and ability to engage team members to achieve objectives
  • Strong prioritization and time-management skills needed for a fast-paced environment

Who You Are:

  • You have initiative, enthusiasm, and resourcefulness
  • You are a team player with a passion for collaboration and patient care
  • Rather than saying “no,” you work with your business partners in a collaborative way to find solutions where solutions can be found
  • You are open to growth and learning, and are not afraid to fail and take calculated and appropriate risk by balancing it with business judgment
  • You take pride in developing and enabling the best work of your colleagues. You support; you do not put down
  • You are driven to partner and put the work in to build respectful long-lasting relationships with the people you work across the table from
  • You work hard and want to have fun while you do so. You celebrate wins and remember to enjoy the journey as we grow together and as a company
  • You thrive on intellectual debate and you are not threatened by it – you understand we act as a team and challenge each other respectfully to get to the best decision
  • You are fundamentally a good partner and a good human
