Brivo, a leading cloud-based access control platform based in Austin, seeks a Legal Counsel to manage the contracting function and close deals end-to-end. The role focuses on AI-driven features, data rights, IP ownership, and ensuring compliance with evolving AI regulations across global markets.

The ideal candidate is a JD with 4–7 years of commercial legal experience, adept at drafting and negotiating complex agreements, and thrives as an autonomous contributor in a fast-paced tech environment.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree from an accredited US law school with active bar membership in good standing.
• 4–7 years of commercial legal experience, ideally with top-tier firm and in-house tech exposure.
• Strong background in enterprise SaaS, IoT/hardware, and AI product commercialization.
• Deep understanding of data training rights, model outputs, copyright risks, and AI vendor liabilities in contracts.
• Self-sufficient, deal-queue ownership mindset and pragmatic negotiation approach.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate high-volume, complex commercial agreements including SaaS, AI addenda, IoT/hardware, inbound licenses, and vendor terms.
• Structure and negotiate AI-related provisions: data ingestion rights, model training, IP ownership, liability, and safety guarantees.
• Collaborate with Sales, Product, and Engineering to remove contract friction and address AI data privacy concerns.
• Ensure commercial terms align with evolving AI regulations and data privacy standards (GDPR, CCPA).
• Maintain playbooks for AI risks, indemnities, and data usage to ensure consistent risk management.
