Job description

Contractor Compliance Team Leader – Permanent Full Time / Perth CBD Office

This position is accountable for leading a team of Contractor Compliance Specialists, responsible for ensuring Western Power’s contractors operate in accordance with all contractual requirements, including safety, environmental, and quality management.

The team plays a critical role in supporting contract management by overseeing contractor operations, verifying contractor claims, and contributing to the integrity and efficiency of contracts. The leader is expected to cultivate a high-performance culture, promote best practices, and ensure alignment with organizational goals and compliance standards.

As a leadership role, this position involves overseeing daily compliance activities and driving continuous improvement within the team, including performance optimization, mentoring, and professional development.

Your Role in Action
  1. Manage Western Power contractors working on complex and high-value contracts effectively and efficiently.
  2. Maintain a consistent, effective site presence for CCS activities, including incident response and management.
  3. Ensure adequate onsite resourcing for outsourced works.
  4. Apply the contract management framework consistently for onsite activities.
  5. Provide technical advice and organize resources to achieve outcomes.
  6. Complete constructability reviews of work packages before contract execution.
  7. Ensure documentation supports claims and variations.
  8. Standardize contractor and contract delivery approaches using systems, tools, and templates.
  9. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

What Makes You a Great Fit
  • Degree in Law, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline, or trade qualifications with 15+ years of broad contract/construction management experience.
  • Extensive industry knowledge with 10+ years in complex contract management.
  • Knowledge of the external contracting market, governance, and probity.
  • Strong commercial acumen and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in construction management.
  • Leadership, influencing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Electrical industry experience is preferred but not essential.
  • Ability to handle pressure, ambiguity, and change effectively.
