Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Income & Contracting Team within the Finance Department at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. Working closely with the Contract Manager, Finance colleagues, clinical services and external NHS and non-NHS organisations, you will support the effective management and renewal of contracts, investigate contractual, activity and financial queries, maintain key contracting information and play an important role in ensuring income due to the Trust is invoiced and recovered promptly.

We are looking for an organised, numerate and proactive individual with excellent communication skills, a keen eye for detail and the confidence to build effective working relationships with a wide range of colleagues and external stakeholders. You will be comfortable working with financial information and computerised systems, investigating and resolving queries, managing competing priorities and professionally pursuing outstanding debt. This is a varied role offering the opportunity to develop your knowledge and experience of NHS finance and contracting within a busy and supportive team.

Why you should join our Team

The Income & Contracting Team sits within the Trust’s Finance function and works with colleagues across clinical services, Finance and Information teams, as well as a wide range of NHS and non-NHS organisations. Our work plays an important role in supporting the Trust’s financial position, from managing contractual arrangements and resolving complex queries through to ensuring income is accurately invoiced and outstanding debt is recovered.

You’ll be joining a supportive, collaborative and professional team where attention to detail, good communication and taking ownership are valued. The role offers plenty of variety and the opportunity to build your knowledge of NHS finance and contracting while developing strong working relationships across the organisation. We’re looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, working with others and seeing tasks through to resolution, and who wants to make a positive contribution as part of a busy and valued Finance team.

What You Will Bring To The Role

We are looking for someone who can bring:

  • Strong numerical skills and confidence working with financial information.
  • Experience of accounts receivable and credit control, including pursuing outstanding debt.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a professional and confident telephone manner.
  • The ability to investigate queries, analyse information and identify solutions.
  • Confidence using computerised financial systems and spreadsheets, with the ability to maintain accurate records.
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly when entering, reconciling and reviewing financial data.
  • The ability to build effective working relationships with finance and non-finance colleagues and external organisations.
  • A proactive and persistent approach, taking ownership of queries and seeing them through to resolution.
  • The ability to organise your own workload, manage competing priorities and work effectively with limited supervision.
  • A flexible and positive approach to change, with a willingness to identify and support improvements in ways of working.
