Privacy Manager/Attorney

Our client, a global leader in smart access solutions and connected devices, is seeking a Privacy Manager/Attorney on a contract-to-hire basis to take meaningful ownership of key privacy initiatives across the organization. This role sits at the intersection of legal, product, and operations, partnering closely with leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to translate privacy requirements into practical, scalable business solutions. The ideal candidate brings strong privacy expertise and business savvy, with the credibility to influence stakeholders, independently own projects and processes from strategy through execution, and operate effectively with minimal guidance. Candidates should be an attorney, but also have a balance of supporting and guiding product teams, as well as practice, hands-on prowess in BAU privacy operations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who can balance legal and regulatory considerations with product and operational realities in a complex global environment.

This role is fully remote, with bonus points for those in the Chicagoland area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Head of Global Privacy and Compliance to advance the company's privacy strategy and execute the privacy roadmap
  • Driving the execution and continuous improvement of internal privacy compliance projects, initiatives, policies, and procedures, including handling related documentation and reporting
  • Supporting development and continuous improvement of standardized privacy compliance resources and tools for use across the business
  • Assisting with development, updating, and execution of privacy awareness and compliance training
  • Manage day-to-day activities of the privacy program
  • Own and project manage cross functional privacy compliance projects
  • Support privacy compliance audits/reviews and oversee remediation activities across the organization
  • Communicate program and project progress, escalations, and issues to key stakeholders
  • Comply with health and safety guidelines and rules; managers should also ensure compliance across their teams.
  • Protect the company's reputation by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reading professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results and participating on projects as needed.
Minimum Qualifications – Education/Certifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Focus in business, law, cybersecurity, information systems, engineering, data science or related field of study
  • One or more privacy certification required (CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPT or CIPM)
Experience
  • Demonstrated experience in the field of privacy, data governance, or consulting with a focus on comprehensive privacy program management.
  • Knowledge of global privacy and regulatory frameworks, such as GDPR, CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA, or other privacy laws and regulations
  • Experience with different privacy frameworks, including GAPP and NIST
  • Familiarity with OneTrust is a plus
