The Opportunity
A highly regarded Am Law 100 law firm is seeking a Data Privacy & Cybersecurity Attorney to join its nationally recognized practice.
This is an opportunity to work alongside leading privacy and cybersecurity practitioners advising sophisticated clients on some of the most complex and evolving issues in data protection, information governance, cybersecurity compliance, incident response, and regulatory risk management.
The team works with clients across a broad range of industries, helping them navigate increasingly complex domestic and international privacy frameworks while managing business-critical cyber and regulatory challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Advising clients on U.S. and international privacy and data protection laws, including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA and other emerging state privacy frameworks
- Counseling clients on compliance with sector-specific regulations including HIPAA, GLBA, FERPA, FCRA/FACTA and COPPA
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating privacy, data processing, and information security agreements
- Conducting privacy risk assessments and advising on risk mitigation strategies
- Assisting clients with privacy governance, compliance programs, and internal policies
- Advising on cybersecurity incidents, regulatory investigations, and enforcement matters
- Monitoring legal and regulatory developments across the privacy and cybersecurity landscape
- Collaborating with clients and internal teams to develop practical, business-focused solutions
Candidate Profile
- 3+ years of experience practicing data privacy and cybersecurity
- Strong understanding of domestic and international privacy frameworks, including GDPR and U.S. state privacy laws
- Experience advising clients on privacy compliance, risk management, and data protection matters
- Excellent drafting, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters and work directly with clients
- Commercially minded with strong relationship-building capabilities
- Existing client relationships are welcomed but are not required
Preferred Qualifications
- CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM, or similar privacy certification
- Candidate must be admitted and able to practice in the state in which they reside.
