Job summary

Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks & Recreation seeks a contracted instructor to lead a 4-week STEM and robotics enrichment module for homeschooled students aged 6–14. The role involves hands-on activities, basic coding, simple machines, and guided experiments with staff support.

The position is paid hourly or per session, based on experience. Candidates should be comfortable teaching mixed-age groups and communicating needs to the Educational Program Coordinator.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Plan and teach a 4-week class series in STEM or robotics.
• Guide mixed-age students through hands-on activities safely.
• Provide achievable learning goals for ages 6–14.
• Maintain a positive, inclusive learning environment.
• Communicate needs for materials to the coordinator.
• Follow all safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver a structured 4-week STEM/robotics curriculum with clear goals.
• Prepare lesson materials, kits, and equipment for each session.
• Guide students through hands-on building, coding, or experiments safely.
• Maintain an engaging, inclusive classroom for mixed-age groups.
• Coordinate with the Educational Program Coordinator on attendance and supply needs.
• Serve as a point of contact for parents regarding class content and progress.
