Job summary

Chicago Public Schools seeks a licensed teacher to lead instruction, monitor progress, and manage classrooms on the North/Northwest Side of Chicago. Under the principal's supervision, you will guide students’ learning and behavior while implementing CPS practices and safety policies.

You will set realistic IEP goals, collaborate with case managers and counselors, and engage with general education teachers to support student success and wellbeing across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution.
• Completion of the CPS online application and teaching profile at cps.edu/teach.
• A valid teaching license issued by the Illinois State Board of Education, with the appropriate endorsement(s) for the role.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate deep content knowledge, pedagogy, and student understanding to design instruction and assessments.
• Create respectful classroom environment with strong behavior management.
• Respond to the needs of all students by designing engaging instruction and assessments.
• Exhibit strong oral and written communication and professional judgment.
• Prioritize student safety through consistent implementation of the Student Code of Conduct.
• Personalize learning using curriculum supplements and technology.
• Advocate for equity, high expectations, and culturally responsive practice.
