AdventHealth in Burleson, TX is seeking a PRN Respiratory Therapist for the Night shift. The role involves delivering routine and advanced respiratory therapies, monitoring patients, and adjusting treatments according to clinical protocol.

StaffFlex options offer flexibility across facilities within AdventHealth’s system. Requirements include an Associate degree in respiratory care, NBRC credential, and a State RRT or CRT; BLS is expected.

Qualifications

• Patient care skills for neonatal to geriatric patients are required.
• NBRC credential must be maintained as a condition of continued eligibility.
• State Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or State Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) required, NBRC credentials preferred.

Responsabilités

• Delivers routine respiratory treatments and advanced therapy per protocol.
• Monitors and coaches patients before, during, and after treatment.
• Adjusts therapies based on blood gases, alarms, and patient progress.
• Initiates and maintains mechanical ventilation and determines appropriate settings.
• Ensures accuracy of assessments and reassesses patient progress regularly.

Job Details:

• Delivers routine respiratory treatments and continuous respiratory therapy including aerosol therapy, lung expansion therapy, oxygen therapy, and bronchial hygiene.
• Monitors, instructs, and coaches patients before, during, and after treatment delivery.
• Prevents and/or resolves untoward side effects and adjusts therapies according to protocol and documented clinical criteria.
• Reevaluates patient/ventilator interface a minimum of every four hours, responds to alarms, and troubleshoots as needed.
• Establishes weaning readiness and facilitates the weaning process, adjusting ventilator settings in accordance with patient progress.
• Draws and analyzes arterial and capillary blood gases, places arterial lines, and makes or recommends changes in respiratory management according to blood gas results.
• Recommends changes in respiratory plan of care according to documented medical necessity and within established protocols.
• Ensures the effectiveness of therapist assessment and reassessment by monitoring patient progress.
• Makes and/or recommends changes based on pulse oximetry, peak flow measurement, chest x-ray, lab work, and other data relevant to optimal patient progress.
• Initiates and maintains mechanical ventilation, determining or guiding the determination of ventilator mode and settings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Patient care skills to care for neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient populations are required. [Required]
• Intubations and airway management for all population served [Preferred]
• Ventilator management for all populations served [Preferred]
• Arterial line placements [Preferred]

Work Experience:

• 1+ critical care experience [Preferred]
