AdventHealth in Orlando, Florida seeks a Respiratory Therapist for a StaffFlex contract. The role covers full-time night shifts (7p-7a) with a pay rate of $61.88/hour plus differential. Critical care experience is required, and NBRC credentials must be maintained.

Responsibilities include delivering treatments, ventilator management, and patient monitoring across age groups. Excellent benefits start from day one, with opportunities for career development and wellness resources.

Mansioni

• Delivers routine respiratory treatments and continuous therapy (aerosol, lung expansion, oxygen, bronchial hygiene).
• Monitors, instructs, and coaches patients before, during, and after treatment.
• Prevents/resolves side effects and adjusts therapies per protocol.
• Reevaluates ventilator interface at least every four hours; responds to alarms and troubleshoots.
• Assesses weaning readiness and facilitates weaning; adjusts ventilator settings accordingly.
• DRAWS and analyzes arterial/capillary gases; places arterial lines and recommends changes.
• Recommends changes in respiratory plan of care per medical necessity and protocols.
• Ensures effectiveness of assessment and reassessment by monitoring progress.
• Updates care based on pulse ox, peak flow, chest x-ray, labs and data.
• Initiates and maintains mechanical ventilation; guides ventilator mode/settings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Critical Care experience [Required]

• Delivers routine respiratory treatments and continuous respiratory therapy including aerosol therapy, lung expansion therapy, oxygen therapy, and bronchial hygiene.
• Monitors, instructs, and coaches patients before, during, and after treatment delivery.
• Prevents and/or resolves untoward side effects and adjusts therapies according to protocol and documented clinical criteria.
• Reevaluates patient/ventilator interface a minimum of every four hours, responds to alarms, and troubleshoots as needed.
• Establishes weaning readiness and facilitates the weaning process, adjusting ventilator settings in accordance with patient progress.
• Draws and analyzes arterial and capillary blood gases, places arterial lines, and makes or recommends changes in respiratory management according to blood gas results.
• Recommends changes in respiratory plan of care according to documented medical necessity and within established protocols.
• Ensures the effectiveness of therapist assessment and reassessment by monitoring patient progress.
• Makes and/or recommends changes based on pulse oximetry, peak flow measurement, chest x-ray, lab work, and other data relevant to optimal patient progress.
• Initiates and maintains mechanical ventilation, determining or guiding the determination of ventilator mode and settings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Patient care skills to care for neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient populations are required. [Required]
• Intubations and airway management for all population served [Preferred]
• Ventilator management for all populations served [Preferred]
• Arterial line placements [Preferred]

Education:

• Associate [Required]

Field of Study:

Work Experience:

• 1+ critical care experience [Preferred]

• Florida Exception: legacy incumbents may continue working and may transfer within Florida without a NBRC active credential, subject to an approved, time-limited transition period.
