Job summary

829 Studios is a Boston-based integrated digital marketing agency seeking an experienced Contract Project Manager to lead website builds and ongoing support engagements on a project-by-project basis.

You will plan, track, and deliver against scope, timeline, and budget, coordinating cross-functional teams and changing orders while communicating with clients to ensure satisfaction. Assignments vary and may include launches and maintenance work.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of project management experience, agency experience ideal.
• Proven track record and significant experience delivering website projects with PM processes.
• Expertise or deep familiarity with website development (WordPress ideal).
• Proven cross-functional collaboration and high client satisfaction.
• Experience defining and managing project workflows.
• Experience with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, design tools (Figma) and PM tools (ClickUp).
• Comfortable with client-facing interactions and able to manage relationships on smaller accounts when needed.
• Comfort managing stakeholder expectations and feedback.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Well-rounded skills including business acumen, strategic thinking, risk management, and execution capabilities.
• Demonstrate initiative when faced with problems; nice to have hybrid role experience.

Job description

829 Studios is seeking experienced Project Management contractors to support website builds and ongoing support engagements on an as-needed, project-by-project basis. Contractors are engaged for specific assignments based on project requirements and mutual availability.

Each assignment will have an anticipated duration and estimated weekly hour commitment, which will be shared and agreed upon before the engagement begins. Assignments may include a website build or an ongoing support engagement, or multiple engagements running concurrently, depending on project needs and contractor availability.

The Contract Project Manager is responsible for independently managing assigned website builds and support engagements, using project management best practices to keep work on track against scope, timeline, budget, and client expectations. This includes communicating with cross-functional teams, coordinating priorities and deliverables, identifying and mitigating risks, and maintaining clear communication with internal and client stakeholders. Contractors may provide services across multiple engagements and may maintain other clients or professional engagements, subject to applicable confidentiality and conflict-of-interest obligations.
What You'll Do

• Independently plan and manage assigned website projects in accordance with the applicable SOW.

• Balance stakeholder expectations regarding the project timeline, cost, and scope.

• Build and manage an overall project plan that can deliver expected results.

• Coordinate project activities and communications necessary to achieve agreed-upon project outcomes.

• Facilitate and track adherence to the Statement of Work (SOW), including proactive management of change orders.

• Create change order estimates and draft change order documents that are easily comprehensible for clients.

• Identify and manage project risks, issues, decisions, and changes.

• Collaborate across multiple teams with a flexible, positive attitude and ability to manage results; team player.

• Monitors and communicates project status effectively, adjusts resources and priorities as needed, and ensures the team has the assets, tools, and support required to complete the project goals.

What You'll Bring

• 3+ years of project management experience (agency experience ideal)

• Proven track record & significant experience in delivering website projects using in depth knowledge of Project Management processes, methodologies, and practices.

• Expertise or deep familiarity within the website development process (WordPress knowledge is ideal)

• Proven track record with cross-functional collaboration and achieving high client satisfaction

• Experience defining and managing project workflows.

• Experience with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite, design tools (Figma ideal) and project management tools (ClickUp ideal).

• Comfortable with client-facing interactions and able to independently manage client relationships on smaller accounts when needed.

• Comfort managing stakeholder expectations and feedback

• Outstanding interpersonal skills

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

• Well-rounded skills that include strong business acumen, strategic thinking, risk management, and tactical execution capabilities.

• Demonstrate initiative when presented with problems and has strong problem-solving skills.

• Nice to have: Experience operating in a hybrid role, serving as both Account Manager and Project Manager on smaller accounts.

Hourly Pay Range: $30 - 40/hr
We determine compensation based on experience, demonstrated skills, and current market conditions at the time of hire to ensure fairness and consistency across roles. Actual compensation will depend on experience and may be adjusted based on skills, qualifications, and alignment with the scope and impact of the role.
