Job summary

Software Placement Group, SPG is seeking a contract, on-site Phlebotomist in Birmingham, AL to join the laboratory team for a three-month project. The role focuses on accurate specimen collection, labeling, and transport, with responsibilities spanning pediatric and geriatric patient care.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Pediatric and geriatric experience required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge samples as required.
• Record maintenance data and perform decontamination procedures.
• Update patient information accurately.
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain venipuncture and specimen collection processes to patients clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Package specimens for transport and store at required temperatures.
