Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where employed.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• High School Diploma or GED, minimum 2 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, and decontamination.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explains the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and ensure 100% correct labeling.
• Package specimens for transport and store samples according to required temperatures.
• Assist with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
