Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label and centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data.
• Collect and store specimens per procedures.
• Explain venipuncture process clearly to patients.
• Demonstrate technique with straight and butterfly needles; verify physician orders.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as per test orders.
• Check requisitions against scripts; package specimens for transport.
• Store specimens at required temperatures; label containers; transport to maintain integrity.
• Follow OSHA and DEP regulations; attend annual trainings.
• Answer calls and relay laboratory results.
