Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting
• Phlebotomy certification valid in the state of employment where required

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and completing documentation
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures
• Explains the venipuncture process to patients in a clear and courteous manner
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order
• Package specimens for transport and ensure integrity during handling
• Follow OSHA and DEP regulations and attend required trainings
• Answer telephone calls and relay lab results as needed
