Job summary

Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks & Recreation is seeking a contract instructor to lead a 4-week Music enrichment module for homeschooled students aged 6–14. You will design hands-on activities, covering general music education, beginner instrument instruction, singing or rhythm-based activities with staff support.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Plan and teach a 4-week class series in music or related performing art.
• Comfortable teaching foundational music skills to mixed-age, mixed-skill-level students.
• Provide simple, achievable learning goals for ages 6–14.
• Maintain a positive, inclusive learning environment.
• Communicate material and equipment needs to Educational Program Coordinator.
• Follow MBCPR policies and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Plans and delivers a structured 4-week music curriculum with clear, age-appropriate learning goals.
• Prepares and organizes instruments, materials, and activities for each session.
• Guides students through musical concepts and skill-building while encouraging participation.
• Maintains a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment for mixed-age groups.
• Communicates with the Educational Program Coordinator regarding attendance, supply needs, and student concerns.
• Serves as a point of contact for parents regarding class content and student progress.
• Adheres to MBCPR safety procedures and reports incidents promptly.
