Job summary

iDesign is seeking an experienced Instructional Designer for independent contractor engagements to create online courses for higher education and corporate partners. You will work with SMEs to design outcomes, align assessments, and develop course materials using AI tools while meeting quality and accessibility standards.

Successful candidates have 3–5 years of SME collaboration, strong LMS knowledge (Blackboard, Canvas, D2L, Moodle), and the ability to coordinate with multiple teams across

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Education, Instructional Technology, or related field.
• 3–5 years collaborating with SMEs for online course development in higher ed or corporate environments.
• Strong fluency across LMS platforms (Blackboard, Canvas, D2L, Moodle) and related edu tech.
• Ability to build relationships with SMEs to drive project progress and deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaborative leadership skills.
• Strategic thinker who designs engaging learning experiences aligned with outcomes.
• Experience with ADA compliance and quality standards (QM, OSCQR, etc.).
• Familiarity with AI-powered instructional design tools and evaluating AI outputs.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with SMEs to design high-quality online courses based on research-based practices.
• Define learning outcomes and align content and assessments accordingly.
• Design relevant assessments aligned with objectives.
• Recommend open educational resources and effective instructional methods.
• Maintain documentation and prepare materials for partner review and approval.
• Incorporate stakeholder feedback through revision cycles and project milestones.
• Coordinate with internal production teams to deliver course design deliverables.
• Attend scheduled milestone reviews and adapt to evolving project needs.
