Job summary

Blumen is seeking a hydrologist to serve as Blumens go-to expert on water for energy and infrastructure siting. You will review wetlands, floodplains, stormwater, groundwater, and water supply findings to ensure accuracy.

This contract engagement offers flexible hours for an independent consultant or a practitioner alongside other work, with hourly / 1099 compensation and a path to help shape Blumens environmental analytics.

Qualifications

• You have professional experience in hydrology, water resources, wetlands, floodplain management, or stormwater.
• Knowledge of federal framework (Clean Water Act Sections 404 and 401, NPDES, FEMA flood mapping) and ability to work with state-level variation.
• You are detail-oriented and care about citations and factual accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Review and correct water-related findings in analyses, permit matrices, and environmental screens.
• Assess wetlands, floodplains, stormwater, groundwater, and water-supply risks for energy and infrastructure sites.
• Research unresolved questions using authoritative sources.
• Help define evaluation methods and product requirements for water issues.
