Job summary

Paramount Field Services seeks an experienced contract Field Title Landman to support an active oil and gas project in Huntington, WV. You will conduct courthouse title research to build accurate ownership chains for client acquisition, leasing, and drilling programs.

Reporting to the Title Project Manager, you will produce clear runsheets and ownership reports, with daily updates from county courthouses. Travel across surrounding counties is required. This is a 1099 independent contractor role.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of oil and gas courthouse title research experience, with at least 1 year in the Appalachian Basin (WV, PA, OH, or KY).
• Demonstrated ability to run full mineral title and prepare accurate runsheets and ownership reports.
• Working knowledge of West Virginia recording practices, metes and bounds descriptions, and severed surface and mineral estates.
• Ability to calculate and track fractional mineral, royalty, and leasehold interests accurately.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Adobe PDF tools, and ability to learn project-specific title software.
• Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and current auto insurance.
• Ability to pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Research mineral, surface, and leasehold titles in county clerk offices.
• Prepare current owner and two-party reports, and full mineral runsheets.
• Trace severed mineral and royalty interests and oil/gas lease assignments.
• Research WV land books, assessor records, and tax status; flag delinquent issues.
• Review estate and heirship records; document open estates for curative follow-up.
• Identify liens, trust deeds, releases, judgments, lis pendens, encumbrances.
• Pull, scan, index supporting instruments with proper references.
• Enter results into title platform/tracker daily.
• Flag defects, gaps, ambiguous descriptions; escalate to Project Manager.
• Submit daily production, time, and expense reports.
• Maintain confidentiality.
