Job summary

Lincoln Electric is seeking a Field Service Controls Engineer for a contract role based in Plymouth, Michigan. The engineer will travel to customer facilities to install, commission, modify, and service RedViking automation and test systems.

Responsibilities include commissioning, troubleshooting, PLC/HMI programming, and collaborating with customers and RedViking teams to optimize performance and ensure long-term reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or associate degree in electrical, mechatronics, controls engineering or related field.
• 1+ years of PLC and HMI programming experience.
• Experience with Rockwell Studio 5000 and FactoryTalk View or Siemens TIA Portal.
• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profinet).
• Experience with industrial automation and machine controls.

Responsibilities

• Represent RedViking and serve as primary technical contact during installations and service activities.
• Participate in meetings to identify project requirements, specifications, issues, schedules, and timelines.
• Coordinate equipment installation activities and support all phases of commissioning and startup.
• Test, troubleshoot, and validate equipment performance after installation.
• Support customers during initial production operation and resolve equipment issues.
• Modify and optimize PLC programs with the RedViking team to improve performance.
• Evaluate Mechanical and Hydraulic systems and share findings with engineering for improvements.
• Lead or work as part of a team with RedViking staff and contractors.
• Maintain service documentation, issue tracking, and communication with customers and stakeholders.
• Perform preventive maintenance and reliability improvements.
• Create service reports and document corrective actions.
• Develop service proposals when necessary.
