Job summary

Northeast Iowa Community College is seeking a Contractual Instructor to teach non-credit Electrical Installation and Maintenance courses in Calmar or Peosta, IA. The position offers flexible hours and contracted class assignments to experienced electricians who want to mentor the next generation.

The instructor will deliver high-quality classroom and hands-on laboratory instruction, aligning with NEC standards and OSHA safety practices to prepare students for entry-level employment or career

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required; associate degree or higher in Electrical Technology or related field preferred.
• Diploma in an electrical related program and/or 3 years (6000 hours) of recent electrical work experience preferred.
• Knowledge of electrical theory, NEC standards, installation techniques, maintenance, troubleshooting, and OSHA safety.
• Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to teach adult learners; basic computer proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging classroom and hands-on lab instruction.
• Teach electrical installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and safety per current industry standards.
• Instruct students in use of electrical tools, equipment, and testing instruments.
• Demonstrate wiring methods, circuit installation, blueprint reading and preventive maintenance.
• Incorporate OSHA safety standards and lockout/tagout into instruction.
• Assess student learning with quizzes, demonstrations, projects and skills checks.
• Maintain attendance, grades and student progress records; keep equipment and materials safe and organized.
• Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment and stay current with industry changes.
• Participate in curriculum development, program evaluation and instructor meetings as needed.
